There was a slight uptick in seasonally adjusted household credit extension in August. However, underlying weakness in credit-uptake remain prevalent — not only due to the depressing unrest/looting spree in July, but also in the months preceding the unrest. The Covid-19 pandemic and resulting job losses played a significant role in negative/weak economic growth, declining employment and real fixed capital formation figures that are still back at those recorded a decade ago.
