Compared with the previous month, the rand strengthened in September 2020 against most developed market and developing market currencies. The unweighted average change in the value of the rand amounted to 5.8%. Month-on-month, the rand appreciated by 3.2% against the US dollar, by 4.1% against the British pound, by 2.8% against the Japanese yen, and by 3.3% against the euro. The rand was 3.5% stronger against the Swiss franc, but weakened slightly, by 0.1%, against the Chinese yuan. The rand appreciated by 2.8% against the NZ dollar and by 5% against the Australian dollar.
