The Consumer Vulnerability Index (CVI) for South Africa amounted to 50 in the fourth quarter of 2018 – up from the average of the previous three quarters but on par with the score registered at the end of 2017. The CVI has essentially been on a sideways trajectory over the past two years, after having shown a moderate increase during 2014-2016.
