The Consumer Vulnerability Index (CVI) for South Africa amounted to 47.9 in the second quarter of 2018 – unchanged from the previous quarter but down on the score registered in second half of 2017. The CVI has essentially been on a sideways trajectory over the past three-and-a-half years, after declining moderately between 2009 and 2013.
