The actual daily liquidity requirement of private sector banks varied between R49.0 billion and R67.4 billion in the second quarter of 2018, much wider than the range of between R52.3 billion and R61.6 billion in the first quarter of the year. The SARB maintained the actual daily liquidity requirement at an average of around R56 billion throughout the first eight months of 2018.
