The Consumer Vulnerability Index (CVI) for South Africa amounted to 52 in the third quarter of 2017 – up on the score registered in the previous two quarters and on par with the score recorded at the end of 2015 / early 2016. The CVI has been essentially been on a sideways trajectory over the past three years, after declining steeply between 2009 and 2013.
