The Consumer Vulnerability Index (CVI) for South Africa amounted to 50 in the second quarter of 2017 – up slightly on the score registered in the previous quarter but on par with the score recorded a year ago in the second quarter of 2016. The CVI has been on a downtrend since 2008, with the average CVI score during the past year being 18.2 points lower than in 2008.
