In September 2017, the rand (ZAR) rand was, in general, weaker against most of the major developed and emerging market currencies. The unweighted change in the rand against 12 currencies amounted to -3.8% m/m. On a month-on-month basis, the rand appreciated most against the British pound (-6.7%). The rand was also weaker against the US dollar (-4%); Australian dollar (-3.5%); euro (-3.3%); Japanese yen (-2%); Canadian dollar (-5.1%); Swiss franc (-3.1%); Brazilian real (-3.6%); Chinese yuan (-2.9%) and Russian rouble (-4.8%).
