The Consumer Vulnerability Index (CVI) for South Africa amounted to 50 in the third quarter of 2016 – a slight improvement on the score of 52.1 recorded for the previous quarter. The CVI has been on a slight uptrend since mid-2013, with the average CVI score during the first three quarters 2016 being 4 points higher than in 2013.
