In dollar terms, imports were up 0.1% on a month ago and down 15.4% measured at a 3-months annualised basis. Imports in dollar terms were 15.2% lower measured on a 12-months basis. exports were down 7.6% on a month and 21.1% lower measured at a 3-months annualised basis. Measured on a 12-months basis, exports in dollar terms were down by 12.8%. The latest 12-month merchandise trade deficit amounted to R185 billion which was R33 billion more than the previous 12 months’ deficit.
