South Africa Household Sector (Quarterly Report) - October 2015

Mortgage loans accounted for 32.3% of total loans and facilities granted to households in the second quarter of 2015, while other secured loans accounted for 32.4% of credit extended. R112.3 bn worth of loans and facilities were granted to households in the first quarter. However, the rejection rate of loan applications rose further to 56% in the second quarter of 2015, compared with a rejection rate of less than 40% in 2010.
