In dollar terms, imports were 1.1% higher, while import growth over the past 12 months amounted to 2.9%. In dollar terms, imports were down 3.4% on a month ago and down 9.4% measured at a 3-months annualised basis. Imports in dollar terms were 7% lower measured on a 12-months basis. Measured on a 12-months basis, exports in dollar terms were 3.4% higher than a year ago. The latest 12-month merchandise trade deficit amounted to R179.6 billion which was a R1.1 billion improvement on the previous 12 months’ deficit.
