In dollar terms, imports were down 9.2% on a month ago but 15.2% up at a 3-months annualised basis. Imports were 3.5% lower measured on a 12-months basis exports were 7% lower on a month ago but 19.8% up at a 3-months annualised basis. Measured on a 12-months basis, exports were down by 6.9%. The latest 12-month merchandise trade deficit amounted to R201 billion which was R45.5 bn up on the previous year.
