In dollar terms, imports were 5.4% up on a month ago and 15.3% up at a 3-months annualised basis. Imports were 3.3% down measured on a 12-months basis. Also in dollar terms, exports were 5.2% lower on a month ago and 20.8% up at a 3-months annualised basis. Measured on a 12-months basis, exports were down by 6.1%. The latest 12-month merchandise trade deficit amounted to R195 billion which was R41 bn up on the previous year.
